Why do we have to wear a wristband on our wrist, when we can have it all over our body. It’s been two years since Levi`s and Google announced a partnership to bring us smart clothing, and now that is finally happening.Today after two years they are teasing us first line of connected clothing, and Google and Levi’s have put us out of our misery. The first piece to come out of Project Jacquard is COMMUTER TRUCKER JACKET,and if you want that, you’ll have to pay 350$ for the garment. The Commuter key is the fabric of the jacket’s left sleeve. So technically is powered by a rechargeable tag that’s found on the inside of the sleeve, the material of the jacket is smart itself. With a simple touch of a jacket sleeve you can activate certain functionalities, like playing music, wirelessly access to your phone and your favorite mobile apps.
The Commuter will be able to manipulate the core functionality of your smartphone. And of course you can wash it,just like you do with any other jacket and other clothes. Ivan Poupyrev, who is project lead for project Jacquard at Google, says that it was a long road but what’s really impressive is the entire journey of what they wanted to achieve (This jacket is going to be sold as a piece of apparel, that was always the vision from the very beginning.)Is a good piece of clothing, but Levi’s believes that is going to be wearable, functional and not dangerous. When you are on your bike you know that navigating your screen on phone, while on busy city streets isn’t easy-or a good idea,(This jacket helps to resolve some problems by becoming the co-pilot for your life,on and off your bike.)Our story began with the invention of the blue jean, which are old 143 today.Levi Strauss & Co. brands innovating constantly to solve the needs of our consumers. The Levi’s Commuter Trucker jacket is expected to be available beginning spring 2017 in select Levi’s stories and on Levi.com.
